Marcel·lí Antúnez Roca (ES) - Robotic installations and complex mechatronic performances

Prague - November 24, 2011

Talk about the robotic body control systems, interactive image control and exoskeletal interfaces on the occasion of the Mob conference in Prague.

Marcel·lí Antúnez Roca has been making robotic installations and complex mechatronic performances more than twenty years. He focuses on themes such as sexuality, violence, love and death, using robotic body control systems, interactive image control and exoskeletal interfaces. However, he says that he is more interested in symbolic and story telling rather than technical background. On the occasion of the Mob conference in Prague he does a presentation divided into two main parts- his early works and several works from nineties to his latest installation Metamembrana. He even uses an exoskeleton to demonstrate how it works.

I try to follow the the old tradition of art. For me the technology is only one step further.

At last, he mentions Woody Vasulka and his admiration of Viennese actionism.
